Jana Sanskriti Manch, Gorakhpur is organising the first ever Film Festival in Gorakhpur from 23rd March 2006 to 26th March 2006 at Samwaad Bhawan (Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University). The theme of this film festival is "Pratirodh Ka Cinema" or "Cinema of Resistance". Amar Shaheed Bhagat Singh's Shahadat Divas also falls on 23rd March.
During this 4 days event, several feature films and documentaries will be screened in presence of film producers and directors of international repute from India and Nepal. Some of the films proposed to be screened are Bycycle Theme, Pather Panchali, Great Dectetor, Voices of Balia and Mirch Masala.
Noted film directors like Anand Patwardhan, Rakesh Sharma, Vasudha Joshi, Megh Nath, Sriprakash and Ajay Bhardwaj are expected to attend the Mahotsav and show their latest movies.
Jana Sanskriti Manch targets to present a sketch of revolutionary role of movies in our society so that people can see the other side of cinema which is not based on vulgarity, crime and superstitions.
